Abstract
The global community has entered a new era when the labor market no longer needs workers who can only reproduce the previous experience of mankind. Today, there is a growing demand for specialists with creative thinking, capable of non-standard solutions, able to navigate the information space at a high level, and work in unstable conditions. For successful professional activity, a modern social worker needs to master the latest digital technologies. That is why the primary task of professional education in the twenty-first century is to form new professional competencies of social workers related to the rapid development of the digital society. In this regard, one more important component has been added to the list of professionally significant qualities of a teacher – «information and digital competence».
